Oct 1 – The Mountain Archive on YouTube and the web supports archival documentation, historic restoration, oral history interviews and community storytelling connecting ecology, history, and place across the Culebra sub range of southern Colorado’s Sangre de Cristo mountain landscape and surrounding ancestral homelands. A living library of historic resources, ecologic documents and collaborative projects, the Archive is rooted in a commitment to shared stewardship and generational knowledge. These physical and digital collections are designed to support researchers, land caretakers, educators and community members working toward a deeper understanding of the landscape and its history.
The newly organized Library, Reading Room and Archival Office at the North Headquarters of Cielo Vista Ranch in the heart of the watershed provides space for research, storytelling, and the collection and production of regional educational materials. The Office’s Meeting Room serves as a hub for respectful conversation, shared learning, gatherings and events in support of collaborative stewardship work.
A growing collection of materials from early land and water documents to contemporary management plans are currently being digitized to encourage ongoing dialogue, informed decision-making, and responsible care for the mountain and its resources at themountainarchive.org.
