Sept 1 – The court recently approved new rules for local property owners who access La Sierra. The rules that govern rights for firewood, timber, and grazing of livestock on the mountain are agreed on through a process overseen by a court-appointed Special Master. This process is creating a mutual covenant for the land and with one another. Following these rules is an act of respect: for the ecology, and for past and future generations keeping this connection alive. Rules have been agreed on by both the ranch and access rights holders through a mediation process. Those affected are encouraged to get involved locally in order to have their voice heard.
